The game that feels like it never ends, but it does….

It’s the game that many people liked. Steph was the girl who organised the game. Steph explained all the rules and the places you’re not allowed to go.

There were three teams with the colours of red, green, or black. Red means you’re a carnivore, green means you’re a herbivore, and black means you’re a disease. The teachers had a water pistol, and when they saw you they would shoot you with it.

Canoeing is fairly easy when you’re first taught to paddle, and it is also easy to steer the boat. When you begin you need 2 or 3 people, but otherwise you can have a 1 man canoe.

The river was in a donkey paddock, and there were donkeys in the paddock. When the wind was very forceful the canoe would slowly blow to the side of the river.

Daniel was the instructor of the canoeing. He was very experienced with canoeing, so he knew that everyone was safe. He taught everyone how to paddle properly and steer properly.

On Tuesday the 22^nd of August, at about 9:00pm, The Bellaire Middle Unit were at camp Kangaroobie, some people went for a 45 minute bus trip to see the glow worms, others were at camp, having a sing along and a night walk.

The sing along was great fun. Firstly, the kids sang songs such as:

“Baby Bumble Bee”, “She’ll be coming round the mountain and “Old McDonald had a Ford”. Everyone sang many, many more. Peter L. was singing his head off!!

In the song “Greasy Grimy Gopher Guts”, the boys, sang it first, then the girls, then all of the kids sang it together as one big group. Read the rest of this entry »

At the recent Kangaroobie Camp there were four student teachers, two were boys and two are girls. They always gave people help when they couldn’t reach the ropes, assisting children getting into Matt’s Ute, and getting people ready for bed.

Student teachers were helping in every activity. So, if you went to hut building or any other activity, there would always be a student teacher.

The names of the student teachers were Miss Mosley, Miss Houk, Mr. Knight and Mr. Lavass.

The Loch Ard and the Apostles at Port Campbell .Two of the most respected monarchs in Oz….. And Bellaire have just been there.

Stepping back in time is the word that Bellaire student Josh Conway said about the Apostles. The day was a Wednesday and the date the 23/8/06. The Bellaire students had the chance of a life time to see these famous and great places in Oz history and they made the most of it. There was a big argument about how many there were but at the end they were still arguing.

The bus driver Perce who is a mastermind at those things, said there was seven. The students spent about thirty minutes viewing the Apostles. Read the rest of this entry »

Monday the 21^st of August the staff at Camp Kangaroobie was getting ready for a school and some noisy kids to arrive.

That school was called Bellaire Primary School and the kids were so excited that they kept talking and talking.

At half past the Bellaire students arrived at the camp. Matt, the boss of the camp, told the students what cabin they were in.

Steph and Dan were staff that helped with activities, and Sophie was Matt’s wife. Sophie helped out with the low ropes course and gave tips.

Christopher and Lachie were Matt’s sons, and Dan looked like Matt’s younger brother. Three ladies were working in the kitchen, and they made breakfast, lunch, and tea. Read the rest of this entry »

Bellaire has gone to camp. There are lots of animals at Kangaroobie such as pigs, cows, sheep, dogs, and people.

To ride a pig you need to make friends with the pig.

“The best way to make friends with a pig is to kiss its backside.” said Matt, the owner of the camp.

There are two dogs at camp. One is very old and the other one is younger, but he is fairly old himself.

The sheep have just had babies and are still having them. The cows have had babies as well.
All of these animals were found and observed at Camp Kangaroobie.

At Kangaroobie Camp all the groups got to participate in the archery activity. They needed a bow and an arrow and aimed at the balloon in the middle of the target.

The people in group two did archery for their fourth activity. The teachers that participated in group two were Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. Windle.

“The arrow was black or wood colour,” said Matt.

“You have to hold the bow in your left hand and hold the string in your right hand.” Mrs Windle said.

It was fun doing Archery!  When the group had finished, They had afternoon tea.

Many of the people hit the bale of hay and the balloon.  Some even shot over the bale of hay!  

Looking after farm animals is hard work but also fun as the Middle Unit campers at Kangaroobie Camp found out.

When the Middle Unit of Bellaire Primary School arrived at Camp Kangaroobie they had a discussion then they settled in. After that some of them went straight to the animals.

Everyone really enjoyed what they did. When they started they fed the pigs. One of the pig’s name was Chester who was a Boar or male pig. The Sow, which is the female pig, was called Cherie. Read the rest of this entry »

On Monday the 21^st of August, Middle P went and saw glow worms and there were 200 847 worms there.

When the first group of campers went to see the glow worms there were 200 847 but they only saw a few worms because it was only a little dark not pitch black.

Some people like Will and David thought that the glow worms would have been bigger but the worms were just like little dots.

Gavin was the man who showed were the glow worms are in Melba State Park. The Park is in the bush. When the kids were going to the glow worms they also saw a waterfall. Read the rest of this entry »

On the way to Camp Kangaroobie, Bellaire Middle Unit went on three busses. The three bus drivers were Max , Darren and Perce, although Perce is just his nickname his real name is Richard.

Every time Perce said something interesting the rest of the bus would have to say “Ohhhhhhhhhhhh,” and every time Perce would say something silly everyone would have to say “Silly Perce.” Perce had a really weird laugh.

It was Monday the 21st of August when we arrived at camp at 12.00; there were two single busses and one double-decker bus, which had a TV. Read the rest of this entry »

The Kangaroobie camp had a variety of foods such as toast, eggs, baked-beans, spaghetti, corn, beans, homemade pies, and a lot of other things.

On Monday night we had Spaghetti and then for desert we had Apple Crumble with whipped cream some people didn’t get whipped cream at all because they didn’t want it.

There are lots of cabins at Kangaroobie and it is lots of fun. Kids can’t wait to go there!!

When the Middle Unit got there they got cabins. The cabins for the girls were Asia, Joanna, Colina, Napier, Black Witch and New Field.

“It was so cool and I got nearly everyone on my list.” Jemma B from Middle P said.

The cabins for the boys were Elizabeth, Innamika, Schomberg, Falls of Halladale, Eric the red and Fiji.

A group of middles goes to camp and build’s hut’s to see what their score was when their huts are tested in different conditions such as Earthquakes and Storms.

Group five arrived at the hut building on 21^st August to find a whole forest of trees and sticks. The activity was hut building so they got to work. There was a big creek with no water in it so it was the perfect place to build a hidden hut.

Most huts built in the creek didn’t get a very good score but the builders got to be lazy because they didn’t have to build walls.

Some groups had tyres, others had twigs but all of the students worked the hardest they ever worked to build a waterproof/earthquake proof hut.

Each had an hour to make a hut that had to hold the whole group. After an hour had slowly gone by it was announced that it was time for testing. Read the rest of this entry »
