Bush-Fires

Posted by willbps on December 15, 2006

Lately on the news they’re a lot of reports about bush-fires, and how they are harming the communities, taking out all of the farms, and taking away all of the houses that people live in. The last time I heard there were 49 bush-fires, and they’re not just little fires they’re big fires that have been taking out anything in it’s path. Some of the fires are on land, and some are in the mountains but no matter where they’re most of them are a major effect to the Eco-System and our Social Living. A few of the fires have been said by the CFA to have been lit purposely by some teenagers or adults, that are out to have a bit of fun by breaking the total fire-ban rule that was put in place when the fires became to get worst. Some of the fires have been started by the Weather in the hot Australian summer, meaning that Victoria, New South Wales, and a bit of Queensland have been having really hot days with really strong winds causing the trees to fall on others and rub together to make fires. If you want to see a chart that the CSIRO have provided click on this link http://clearlyexplained.com/nature/earth/disasters/05extrainfo.html, this shows you what kind of damage has been do to each state. Will this is another very percpetive and well thought out entry. Sadly it is a fact that in Australia we live in a very fire prone environment and that te best we can do is learn how to live with it. If the climate change predictions came true then the future may well be even more difficult.

I am always impressed and amazed by the efforts of the CFA volunteers. I had often thought about joining but was never really in a position to do so. Maybe when you get a bit older you can do the job for me?
