On Thursday the whole school finished for the year. In Middle P we were still recovering from the class party and it was made worse by we had to move all the tables from our room because it will not be a classroom next year. We moved it into Miss Kemp’s old room. Her class in in one of the two new portables. Then it was all done. Then we had to continue our Christmas activity’s until snack. Then the rest of the day went very quickly for me. In no time it was time for assembly. We finished at 2:30pm because it was the last day so we had a bit longer assembly. We went out a 1:50pm. We sang the national anthem for the last time this year with pride. I was lucky enough to get one of the last crossing awards. Then, we anticipated the bell. 5,4,3,2,1………. Byron said. Then this was it…… “Frosty the Snow Man had a carrot for a nose”. What?!, I thought. Then “Ding, ding, ding. School Over I said. And that was my last second of being a Middle Unit student :). Let’s get ready for next year!

Today [20/12/06] we had our class party. As always some people had to bring savoury food and some sweet. We had to volunteer. I had to bring sausage rolls. “And in the savoury corner, from parts of Geelong we have: Sausage rolls, Chicken Nuggets, Salt + Vinegar chips, Little Boys, Pizza, Cheese and Ricotta rolls, Sandwiches and Cheese and Biscuits! My Nanna brought them in just after 1:00pm which is the time the party started. They were nice and warm. I thought they were yummy as well. So we were all ready. Party time! David. R got the first thing on the savoury table. He got my sausage roll. We were only allowed 2 things at a time. Then we got to go back 3 times and on the 3rd you could get a soft drink. To choose from there were: Solo Lemon+Lime Tang, Sarsaparilla, Orange Crush, Lemon Crush and Raspberry. I had a mixture of Sarsaparilla and Solo. It tasted like licorice and lemon!
Then we could dig into the sweet stuff. “And in the sweet corner, also from parts of Geelong, we have: Matchsticks, Chocolate Cake, Caremal Silce, Truffles, Honey Joys, Pikelets with whipped cream, Christmas Cakes with lollies on top and there were a few more but I forgot! [Sorry to all those people who’s food I didn’t say :). It was great fun and I’m sure there would be some creaky floor-boards and bloated tummies tonight!

Today [Monday the 18th] we went to the Barwon Valley Retirement village. We had to walk all the way and Mr Pearce was worse than my Mum at telling us how to cross the busy roads! “In lines of 4 thanks”, He would say. Also there was a few creaky floorboards coming from near Nick! [Middle P students and Mr P you would know what I am talking about]. We stopped under a shady area to have snack and just over the road from the retirement village. Then once we got inside Mr Pearce started playing his trusty guitar. The first song that we sang was, now I can’t remember! My favourite song that we sang was Sadie the cleaning lady. Then after we had sang all the songs I had to go out the front say, “I hope you have enjoyed all our little songs and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas.” It was really fun and I enjoyed it. Then we went to the park to have lunch and I played cricket after that with some friends. Then we had the long trip back to school. Isn’t it funny that the trip back always seems longer than going to the place?

The closer and closer we get to Christmas, stores begin to bring in more and more stock and it becomes a shopper’s worst nightmare. Long lines, sold out items, and there becomes less and less stock for a family to buy, especially the new items like the Nintendo-Wii. Some people say it’s the most upcoming Nintendo/Microsoft product ever made. These products just got released on the 7th of December, and already some stores have sold thousands of the Wii’s. So parents I would take another look at your son’s or daughter’s Christmas list, because they cost about $400 dollars so they’re quite expensive, so I wouldn’t by them if you don’t have the money.

Yesterday the whole school got their reports for this year. I was really looking forward to reading mine……. for once! I got to read mine early because I went home early. At assembly last week Mrs.Warren said a “C” should be celebrated. For all you adults, it is not like when you were young like A- B+ and other stuff. An A means you are well above the standard for this time of year. B means above the standard for this year and C, that means you are at the standard for this time of year. D means below and e well below. I hope nobody got a d or an e. I am really happy with my report and i’m sure everybody else is as well. Looking forward to next year even more now!

Lately on the news they’re a lot of reports about bush-fires, and how they are harming the communities, taking out all of the farms, and taking away all of the houses that people live in. The last time I heard there were 49 bush-fires, and they’re not just little fires they’re big fires that have been taking out anything in it’s path. Some of the fires are on land, and some are in the mountains but no matter where they’re most of them are a major effect to the Eco-System and our Social Living. A few of the fires have been said by the CFA to have been lit purposely by some teenagers or adults, that are out to have a bit of fun by breaking the total fire-ban rule that was put in place when the fires became to get worst. These last couple of terms we have been called up to either the computer lab or the classes classroom to help them with, setting up Wiki’s or blogs and Power-point presentations. Mostly all of the Middle grades are doing a Power-point with pictures with speech bubbles [see more on that on Maddy’s slide called “Our Little Slide Shows”]. We have been called this term about 3 times to 3 classes. Most of the teachers now Mr P is the tech-head in the Middle Unit [I know I certainly do]. But it is fun to show how do do this and that to other classes. But Middle unit classes, “Don’t worry because Middle P Is Here!”

Middle W have now moved into their new portable. I told you about the new portables in an other post on this blog when they were being put up. Well now, they are ready for use. Middle W moved in to their new home on Friday. There is an other portable and the grade moving to that one is Middle K. On Thursday I had to put some of Middle W’s stuff out of their old room and into their new. The new portable smells nice as well. It looks good and I hope they will enjoy the rest of the year in there.

I these next few couple of weeks we will get our reports. I belive what Mr P is saying. I think Nick should be scared and be afraid, very afraid :]. As Darth Vader would say. “Come to the dark side Nick”. Well for my report, well, lets not go there! Reports are always good because you can see were you have improved and were you you need to improve on. As Nick said, the marks go A,B,C,D,E I think. Today Mrs Warren said we should celebrate getting a C because it means you are doing very well. Be afraid Nick, very! [OOHHHHH].

Mr Rolf came to Bellaire PS with some Liquid Nitrogen. We got to freeze a Rubber Pipe, Bouncy ball, Tennis-ball, and a balloon. When we put the Rubber Pipe in the Liquid Nitrogen it froze instantly. Then Mr Rolf smashed it against the table. Next he put the Bouncy ball in the Liquid Nitrogen. It took a lot longer than the pipe. It lost it’s Bounciness and almost smashed. Then Mr Rolf put the Tennis-ball in it. It took 5 mins till it froze then Mr Rolf smashed it by jumping on it. When the balloon got put in the Liquid Nitrogen for a certain amount of time the air will turn into a liquid.

A band came to play their instruments at Bellaire today. The band was from Geelong High School. They all played separately. I enjoyed watching and hearing.

On Monday a science teacher came to our school to talk to us about solids, liquids and gas. He did really fun stuff with us like he put a tennis ball into liquid nitrogen and kept it in there and got another and got the one that was in the liquid nitrogen and bounced them both and the liquid nitrogen one let all the cold air escape and all the rubber froze. The next experiment he got a gas bottle full of air and blew up a balloon and put it over a little container and put into the liquid nitrogen and the air that was in the container turned blue and he did lots of other stuff.
